What Is A Blog?

The Definition of Blog (a truncation of the expression weblog) is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries (“posts”) typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first). Until 2009 blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject. (source)

I have been asked the question “What is a blog” over and over again.  You know that look that people give you when they are trying to act like they know what you said.. yet it is very obvious they have no idea!

Now I gave you the blog definition that is formal.. or I guess these days people would say PC.. lol..

Yet I’m now going to tell you what is a blog based on my experience.

Now understand I’m typing this so that you can debate what I’m saying. There are several different bloggers out there that will tell you what is a blog in all kinds of different ways.

My answer is based on 7 years of experience and multiple five figures.  So at the end of the day.. take the advice you want. Yet since you are here.. just follow along.

I remember like it was yesterday when I was struggling to make ends meet, mainly because I wasn’t receiving child support..yet that is another story.  I came across a group of successful internet marketers and inquired as to how they had found success.

The truth is I received many vague answers.  No one was really just spilling all the ins and outs for FREE on how they were having success on the internet. So I realized quick that I would have to invest in my education. Which wasn’t all that odd considering I owed $50K in student loans. Education has never been free in my life. I mean it even took time when I was in Elementary, Jr. High School, and High School. I mean I spent 8 hours plus a day there. So education first took time.. then it took time and money, so why would this be any different.

One thing I noticed about every successful internet marketer is that they all had blogs. Yet again none of them really shared exactly how to write a blog that paid bills. So I stayed close and followed the leaders and attempted to duplicate their actions. Notice the word “attempted”. There seemed to be some behind the scene hidden secrets building blog sites that make money.

Yet I didn’t give up.. I kept paying close attention and invested in some amazing training that explained many things to me.  Unlike today where all you have to do is start a Viral Blogging System that will literally allow you to start blogging in 20 minutes.

Yes I failed many times.. and had many set backs.. yet there was no room to give up.. probably the reason why I it remember so well.

What Is A Blog Once You Have Success Surrounding You At Every Turn

It really is up to you which blog definition you decide to believe.  The definition I gave you at the beginning of this post is one that is the dictionary version.  Yet the reality is that when a person ask me, “What is a blog?” All I see is dollar signs, I see dinner for my girls, I see my house and my car.  I see the soccer and cheerleading that my daughters are able to experience.  I see financial freedom.
