I remember when I started my first job at the age of 15.

It was that moment in my life when my parents decided I was too old for them to keep buying me every thing I wanted.

They felt it was time for me to “earn” my keep.

I remember it like it was yesterday.. (talk about the good ole days) I didn’t have a worry in the world.. except to get good grades in school in order to keep my parents satisfied.

I made $10 a week just for doing my chores.. and that was my “spending” money.. the rest.. my parents gave me.

Yet this time it was different.  I asked for a 12 speed Schwinn bike.  It was a must have in my eyes.

Went to my parents and they both agreed it was time for me to start buying my own “goodies”.

I was like.. no problem.. I went out and got a job.  My first job was at the Frankfurt Contracting Authority. It was a job on base.. that paid me $7 an hour. I knew I would have my bike in no time.   Yet I didn’t realize all the responsibility that came with having a job.

That was the beginning of a long journey of jobs.. most of which I didn’t like.

I found myself wanting to ask people do you know how to quit your job?

At the age of 19, I was introduced to Network Marketing.  The industry was given to me as an answer to the question of how to quit your job.. yet I learned really quick that it wasn’t nearly as simply as drawing circles on a white board, or inviting people out to a meeting, or even selling the products that I had stacked up at my home.

After years and years.. it seemed like there was really no answer to how to quit your job. At least not an answer that worked for me.

Yet you know that saying.. Never give up!! I mean there had to be a way.. people were quitting their jobs every day..  At least in the circles I kept. Yet none of them really answer the question of how to quit your job for me.

When You Start Asking How To Quit Your Job A Shift Is Taking Place In Your Beliefs

Some may tell you that there are many ways to quit your job.  I mean you can just say.. “beep it” and walk out. You can give a two weeks notice and write a letter to quit job. Or my favorite you can quit your job knowing that you will never have another job again. At least not a job that you want to quit.  Stay with me for a second.. I know you are wondering where I’m going with this….

See when you start thinking like you will never have a job again.. you are living the signs you need to quit your job. So when you ask how to quit your job.. you are looking and expecting a permanent answer.

The shift took place for me in 2008.  At that moment the people around me shifted.  See I started hanging out with Business owners..and not employees.  I started watching their lives and how they literally could create money out of thin air.  I noticed how they had complete control of all of their time.  Was there a price to pay.. Ummmm Yes!

It really boils down to what you want… what you desire in life.  When you wake up are you excited to see what is to come or is it the same ole thing over and over again.

You know you can change that right??

I have a network of Go-getters around me.. and I give them the chance to ask me any question they desire.. Why.. because the reality is if you can relate to me.. you can see yourself in my story then guess what you can do what I do.. You may not get there the same way as me.. yet you can get there.

One of the “Go-Getters” around me asked me this question:

You’re the queen of silly questions? Cool! Lol..my question for you is..how long did it take you to quit your job once you started to see consistent results?

I can’t tell you the exact person that asked me the question, because I allow them to be asked anonymous.  Why? You know why.. I have questions I want to ask and don’t necessarily have to say it is me.. I’m just saying.. maybe you are different.

I personally love the interaction.. and  I learned a long time ago that you can’t take things personal! I honestly wish more people would ask questions.. vs. assuming they know everything which leaves them stuck in the same situation.

In this game of internet marketing if you are next experiencing the “Unsubscribe”.. then you simply aren’t doing something right!

Yes I said it… and if you need me too.. I will say it again..

See back when a started on-line.. about 6 years ago.. and really just started learning how to generate leads, I would get nervous about the unsubscriber.

Especially their comments as to WHY they unsubscribed.

Why? Well.. because back then I took it as though I was doing something wrong instead of realizing it was something I was doing right.

Let’s go even deeper.. when you are pulling in 1 or 2 leads a day.. well the 1 0r 2 unsubcribe notices a day makes you feel like you are not really moving forward.

Back in 2010.. I remember when I stopped sending emails all together just to avoid the unsubscribe.

Don’t read this like.. Oh.. I would not have done that.. truth be told you might just be sitting there and can’t remember the last time you emailed your list..

The unsubscribe tells you that you are marketing to your target market!

Email marketing helps you to see who is really going to join you.. and who is not.. so email your list.. and be YOURSELF.. so that those that are not feeling you.. will get off the list.

Yes you want them to unsubscribe!

Now if you are not at a point where you are building a list.. yet you are building a business on-line.  Then you MUST start to build your list.  Your money is in the list.

I called myself building a business for 10 years without a list.. I had little sheets of paper all over the place.. in my file cabinet with contact information from people that came to my Network Marketing meetings and home parties.. yet I had no way to follow up with each of them without picking up the phone and calling each one individually.  And honestly that is a lot of time.. (See we didn’t have the internet back then to make it so easy.. lol..)

Behind The Scenes The Unsubscribe Can Come Across like…

I get the craziest reason for why people unsubscribe.  Some simply unsubscribe and do not leave a reason.. yet there are always those ones that take it real personal and come off the list with their fist swinging!

I’v bee called the B word.. I’ve been cursed out.. I’ve been called fake.. you name it and I’ve seen it from a subscriber.  Yet.. let me make sure you understand something.

Every subscriber on my list.. placed themselves there. They decided they desired the information that I was offering at any given time.  They typed their email into the form.. because they wanted something.. then the emails start hitting that area of their life.. where they are unwilling to accept responsibility and then they unsubscribe focusing the anger at me that they should focus on what ever it is that has them willing to move forward.

FREEDOM HURTS SOMETIMES!! Oh YES IT DOES!!

If you are reading this post and you are living a life of freedom.. you know.. just like I know that there are many nights that I cried myself to sleep because I had to accept responsibility for my world.  For my life.. for my situation.. and sometimes the truth hurts.. PERIOD!

Never Take Responsibility For The Unsubscribe, Treat It Like A Job Well Done.. As A Seed Was Sown

See I was raised in a world where my mother pretty much never made me take responsibility for my actions.. Now I felt that thing.. yet we never really sat down and had a conversation about what it really means to accept responsibility for what you say, do, think, feel, etc.

So I made a decision early on, that I would have these conversations with my daughters.. as letting the world teach me this lesson was way more painful then it had to be.

So my oldest daughter, Catherine (13) was going through a season when she was snapping on my youngest daughter Chloe (7) all the time.  I finally had enough of this and decided it was time for a conversation. See I like love and peace to fill my home.. not arguing and frustration.

So I asked Catherine.. “What’s the problem, why are you snapping at Chloe?”

And she starts in… “Chloe did this.. and Chloe did that..”

I had to stop her right there.. “Catherine I didn’t ask you about Chloe.. I asked you about YOUR actions, So what is going on with YOU that you can not control your emotions and how you speak to Chloe?”

She stops.. and looks at me.. puzzled.. her eyes start watering up.. as she begins to feel the root of thing rising up in her, yet she is not sure how to express it..

I take over.. and say let me explain something to you.. “How you respond to Chloe is planting a seed as to how she will respond to you someday.. just like I planted a seed in you as to how you are responding today.  I’m not surprised that you are snapping.. and not really looking at yourself.. I did the same thing at your age, because no one taught me different.  Yet I’m going to share with you.. an amazing truth.  One that many around you do not know or want to understand.  “Every time you get frustrated with Chloe and allow her actions to determine how you respond.. you give her power over you.  Chloe is now able to guide you in any direction she chooses because YOU gave her responsibility over you.”

Catherine looked…. back to that in a second..

Now when you have a unsubscribe on your list and they attack you.. that is AWESOME..as you have just been given power for pointing out a truth in that person that they are not ready to deal with yet.. so it’s really best they get off your list.. as you only have time for those that are ready to make a change in their lives and follow you!

Ok.. so Catherine is looking at me intently.. the minute I said Chloe has power over you.. her face changed.. her eyes twinkled and she said..’

“Mom, I’m tired and Chloe keeps coming in my room bothering me, and I have not figured out how to communicate to her in a way that will get her to do what I want.”

Now that this point.. I was like… “Dang.. she said it better then I would have said it”

Do not allow the unsubscribe link to scare you.. in some of my messages I lead with the phrase thanks for being here.. yet if you don’t like what you see “unsubscribe”.

Look.. the reality is this is part of the business.

Conquering The Sales Process Leads To True Freedom

Understanding Your Sales Process Will Show You What Bridge To Build

 I can’t speak for you..

Yet when I started my first business.. I had not idea what a sales process could do for me.

Truth be told.. had you asked me about my sales process.. I would have probably looked at you crazy and changed the subject.

LOL..

I laugh because I know for a fact that I’m not alone.

See at the beginning we join a business for a particular reason. I’ve listed a few below.. maybe you can see yourself in them:

  • More time with the family
  • Money to pay off debt
  • Money to supplement the job income
  • In order to travel the world
  • To fill a need for child support (oh.. this was me.. smile)
  • To leave the job
  • Freedom to live your life YOUR way
  • Enter your reason here

The focus in building the business is usually the end goal.

Unfortunately in the Home Based Business industry people are rarely taught how to actually sale.

Many join because the excitement of the dream becoming a reality.. then they follow the first steps given to them..

“Talk to your friends, family, co-workers, everyone you know.”

Then when you are finished with those.. simply share your business with everybody you meet.

Ok.. seriously that works at the very beginning.. yet how about when you have a 6 months under your belt…

No success.. and now you are becoming a little burned out..

You realize you are not at a river.. you must cross it to continue.. yet the bridge is missing! Now WHAT?

Well.. the bridge will appear when you discover the Sales Process.

The 7 Step Sales Process That Converts 

1. Product Knowledge: Know your product! You should understand exactly what you are offering to the market place. I always start here when consulting my marketing clients.  The first place we start is with the product.  It’s what you are selling.  Write down 5 problems that YOUR product is a solution to. If you have a line of different products, pick 3 that you will start your sales process selling.. and write down 5 problems for each product.

2. Prospecting: Yes time to locate your customers.. are help them locate you (will go more in to that later).  Prospecting is a section that many take way more lightly then they should. Everyone is not meant to use your product, or join you in business.  You have a valuable product, treat it as such. Make sure that you are digging in the right place, so that you can communicate with those that you know will benefit from your product.  Which leads to less rejection and more sales.  I wrote an entire article on this topic, you can see it here!

3. The Approach: This is where it all gets really interesting.  For this article we are going to consider the approach in the context of  lead generation, vs. the sales call.  Why? Well, I specialize in lead generation and honestly enjoy connecting with new people on auto-pilot while I’m at my daughter’s soccer game.. yet that’s just me. This is the step where you begin to build relationships.  Make sure to have follow-up emails set in your autoresponder. I recommend at least 7 very GOOD emails for each list.  Stats show that it can take up to 7 touches for a person to take action.  So make the first 7 emails count.  Another thing to consider in your approach is to remember to market to each list separately.  For example if you gathered the lead with a Facebook Marketing ebook, then send them information on Facebook Marketing.. not LinkedIn Marketing.  (Please don’t ask me how I know this.. let’s just say I learned the hard way.. ROFL)

4. The Needs Assessment: I believe this is one of the most important sections of the sales process.  Which really lines right up with number one.  Knowing the problem that your product solves allows you to know exactly how your target market will respond.  You have to take time, if the person doesn’t buy immediately, to tap into their needs. The offer that captured the lead is your initial point of assessment.  For example if a person opts in to a list talking about generating leads.. they probably have a problem getting leads.  IE: Need = Leads.  Your product is a solution to obtaining leads.. so simply tip tap on this need over and over.. then offer the solution.

5. The Presentation: Depending on the technique you use to present.. for example video, blog post, email, in person, or social media inbox remember this one thing.  Only one thing.. I don’t care what anybody else tells you.. This one thing is all you need to remember.. PERIOD!! Ok.. I just said I don’t care what you’ve heard.. this is the ONLY thing you need to remember.. “Stories sell and Facts tell”.. so what do you want to do.. Sell.. or tell.. yeah.. that’s what I thought.. smile.

6. The Close: Wow.. the close.. just give me a moment of silence.. Ok.. let’s continue.. Why the moment of silence?? Because this is where the death of the sales process occurs the most!  Never be afraid to go in for the close. Have a clear and concise call to action.  Go in with confidence.. do not.. let me repeat do not act scared.. Now you can be scared.. just don’t act like it.. I become someone else every time I close.. I may have even closed you and yes.. Now you know.. I was no longer Shalonda.. I was Michelle.  You may meet her again someday.  LOL.. Michelle is a closing BEAST!! No does not scare her.. WHY?  Because she knows if you say No today that she has her sales funnel set up so that you will Yes tomorrow! (You can set yours up in 10 minutes right here).  There many ins and out to closing.. which I will get into later this week, so make sure to snatch your free gift over on the right so that you have access when it comes out.

7. The Follow-up: One of the most overlooked sections of the sales process.  The reality is that the follow-up is for those who have purchased from you just as much as those who have not yet taken action. Make the follow-up a priority and watch your conversions raise higher and higher.  When following up on-line videos are amazing. Speak directly to your prospect in the video.. Now I realize you want to show this video to everyone on that list.. and YES.. you should.. yet when you make the video.. speak to one person. Same goes for when you write an email message.  Remember you are speaking to a person.. not a group of people.  You want the person connected with you to feel like everything you say is directly for them. The more you create this environment, the more credit cards will come flying out of pockets.

Prospect With These Next-Level Techniques And Break The Bank

What are you doing with your PROSPECT??

Many times when we join our business we are so excited that we simply tell everybody that we have found the next best thing since sliced bread.

We try to sign up everyone that we run into.

Yet the reality is that this is not the best way to prospect, and truth be told everyone is not meant to become your prospect.

Realizing that your business is not for everybody is the best place to start and also realizing that you really don’t want to work with just anybody.

Now that you have found the next best thing, it is now your job to sort through the people in order the find the ones that were meant to work with you.

Who is YOUR perfect Prospect?

When approaching a person in order to see if they are a good fit for your business or prospect them, you need to interview them.

Just like if you were applying for a job they would interview you… or if you were hiring somebody to work with you, you would interview them.

Well the same needs to happen now that you are deciding who the individuals are that will take your business to the next level.

I’ve learned from many, yet let me mention Dani Johnson. She taught me how to F.O.R.M individuals prior to introducing them to my business opportunity.

In order to F.O.R.M a person you will ask a series if questions to help you determine how your opportunity is a solution to their situation.

You may also find through this process that the individual is meant to be a preferred customer instead of a business owner.

Now F.O.R.M stands for the following:

1. F = Family: Let’s ask them about their family and determine if the business will help solve an issue in this area. For example: “Do you have children?” “Do you have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with your family?”

2. O = Occupation: Let’s ask them about what they currently do for a living. For example: “Are you currently working?” “What kind of work do you do?” “Do you like what you do?”

3. R = Recreation: Let’s ask them about what they like to do with their free time. For example: “What do you do for fun?” “How many times do you get to do that a week?”

4. M = Motivation: Let’s ask about what motivates them to continue building a business. For example: “Why are you trying to start your own business?” “If your business hit a slow spell, what would motivate you to keep pushing forward?”

Now you know your Prospect!!

Now that we have learned something about our prospect, we can make a better informed decision about how our business will help them in their situation.

You are starting to build a relationship.

Many people forget that Network Marketing is about relationships.

Remember that people join people not businesses.

So you want to build a relationship with your prospect so that they will want to join you.

The final and most important rule for the basics of prospecting is that you must listen to them.

You must ask your question and LISTEN to their answer.

This is a vital key to successful prospecting.

I have found that in the past when I failed to listen to the needs of my prospect that I left without the new member.

Once I actually started listening to my prospects my conversion rates went through the roof.

Cold Calling Is Not DEAD!

Anybody who has been in Network Marketing, Sales, or really business in general has had to deal with picking up the phone to call a prospect.  Cold calling is one of the most disliked techniques, yet when done correctly it can completely explode your bank account.

Yet let’s just be honest.. who really wants to sit around calling random people?

I never did.  I couldn’t stand cold calling. Which is one of the main reason I came to the internet.

I simply knew there had to be a better way.

There was one moment in my sales career that I literally converted about 85% of all my calls into sales.

The product… they were Sesame Street Books.  I worked at an outbound call center.  I would sit on the phones for hours.. taking call after call after call.

Yes.. I was that person calling during dinner to offer you something you needed in your house.

How did I convert 85% of my calls into sales, you ask.. Oh.. I knew that every single person I spoke with had kids.  During those days Sesame Street Books were a hot commodity.

Funny, I know.. yet the numbers didn’t lie.  I treated each call like their lives depended on their kids reading Sesame Street Books.. and 85% bought into my story.  See most of the adults that answered the phone also grew up reading Sesame Street Books just like myself… and we all want our kids to have the best of what we experienced.

Cold Calling Techniques Can Cause You To Quit.. or Press You To Move Forward!!

Right now in 2014 cold calling is harder then ever.. WHY?

Well everyone has caller ID. So basically they have made an assumption before they even answer the phone with “Hello!”

Where as pre-caller id, the person didn’t have any idea who was calling until they said Hello! Then you could lead with the, “Hello, First name.. ”

Now when a person sees a number they do not know on caller id and then you are on the other end calling them by their first name.. the response is usually…

Rejection!

Let me just be honest.. I would hate to sale Sesame Street books today.. with caller id around.

Now let’s get into what to do with your list of leads.

Many still believe strongly in cold calling Biz Opp leads.  You may have a list in front of you.  HOT off the presses.

You sit down and you prepare to make calls.  You pull out your script. When ever I start cold calling I use Dani Johnson’s Script Book. She is a BEAST!!..

The one you have been practicing in the mirror with a big smile on your face.

You have your list of 100 names and numbers to start… as you feel that nervous feeling come over you.  Phone in hand.. you begin to dial the number

The Truth Behind The RipOff Report!

How many times have you dealt with the “ripoff report”?

I mean seriously.. in the Home Based Business industry I promise I hear about it every other day.

You may be thinking.. every other day.. REALLY??

Yes.. because I’m reaching new people every day.  People who have had horrific experiences in the Home Based Business industry.

See the thing about the ripoff report is that it is basically like this.. follow me now..

You are out chasing your dreams.. you come across a stranger! Let me clarify.  A stranger is somebody you do not know.

A person that has not asked you not one question.. they just SEE your hunger.

They do ALL the talking.. never listening to you.

They basically talk you into chasing your dreams with them..

You follow them.. never doing any research.. yet your dream is still in front of you.

All of a sudden you get this feeling in your gut.. because you realize you have invested money..

Yet you can’t see the same kind of investment taking place from the stranger.

Then it happens.. you notice that they are asking you to do something that they are not doing.

Finally you make the decision to quit following them.. you do your research just to find out.. you missed the ripoff report up front.

At this point you place your dreams on the back burner.. yet you are still looking for way out.

You seem somebody that you like.. you see they are living the dreams you sat down.. you decide you may join them..

Then you say.. “Show me the RipOff Report!”

So a few weeks ago I invested in my education. Now at the moment I made the investment, I had no idea what direction this training would take me.

I only knew what my end game looked like.

I knew the information being offered could take me to the next level, as I had yet to accomplish a few vital bench marks of my journey.

 What The Top Producer Realizes That Changes Everything In A Moment!

What I found in Module 2 of the 13 Module content rich Top Producer Formula is that my beliefs are hindering my success.

Yet not only that.. I learned the 14 steps to changing my beliefs that were not productive for me, and I’m going to get your started here!

First.. I picked a belief that I desired to change.

That belief was “When I work hard on my business, I do not see the same kind of amazing results as I see when I work hard for a paycheck!”

Then I took this belief and took it through the 14 steps that change a belief.

Step 1: Positive Intention – Basically every belief initially is created for a positive reason.. even though that reason may counter ones actual goals. In my situation.. with this belief I always had great success in any situation where I generated a paycheck.. which let’s be honest.. I started working at that age of 15.. and didn’t start my first business until the age of 19. To take it even further I didn’t realize I believed this until around 21 months ago when I became a full time internet marketer.

Step 2: Redefining – Basically I took this belief and redefined them. So in my situation I redefined the reason I worked hard because my character is one where I give my best in every situation, not just when a paycheck is on the line.  Truth be told, when ever I’ve made a decision to do something I give it my all.

Step 3: Consequences – What is the negative consequences of continuing to believe this thing that you believe? What are the positive consequences of changing it? What positive outcomes is this belief having in your life? What is it producing that is actually positive for you? In my situation the consequences are that I do not have great results when I go HARD in my business, which affects the way I’m able to take care of my family in a negative way.. so this belief must change. This belief is not having any positive outcome in my life.. as I no longer work for a paycheck, I’m working in my own business full time. Therefore it is not producing anything positive for me right now.

Step 4: Chunk Down – Going into more specific detail is chunking down. In my situation.. I took the belief and chunked it down to a specific job where I generated a raise because I worked so well.  So basically the harder I worked the more I accomplished and the more I made per hour.

Step 5: Chunk Up – Going into more abstract focus is chunking up. In my situation.. The abstract outcome, was less time for my family. I also had less time to enjoy what I made.  Finally if I wasn’t able to keep up that pace of working it effected my ability to earn even more.

Step 6: Counter Example – This is something that disproves your belief. It proves another belief that you want. In my situation I gave myself the example of the freedom I received from working at home.. plus the fact that my most profitable days financially were days that immediately followed moments of time when I put focused work into my business. So the harder I worked on my business the more I made, even on days that I did not work as hard.

The Amateur Has Been REVEALED.. READ NOW!

As a Network Marketer with 14 years of experience, I have been fooled by many amateur network marketers out here acting like Professional network marketers.

Now, I would love to sit here and tell you that I saw every single amateur up front and did not join them in business and end up losing my investment, yet that statement would be a lie.

The good news is after making several poor choices on who to join, I begin to see a common thread between amateurs and professionals.

After reading this information you will see an amateur after a few words are exchanged. Now some wonder why it matters rather the person sharing the opportunity is an amateur or a professional, they are starting their own business.. right?

Well, it matters.. it matters A LOT. See the person you join in your Network Marketing business can either help lead you straight to success or they can lead you in the direction opposite of success.

So working with a professional gives you a better chance of having success.

Now the first thing I noticed about amateurs in network marketing is that the first thing they tell you is they have a business that is better than white rice, and you must join.

You may say that all Network Marketers say those words. The issue here is that you haven’t asked them about starting a business. You really haven’t told them anything at all.

When this occurs slowly pull out your red flag and hold it close.

Now the Professional will gather some information prior to mentioning anything about their business.

See the professional understands that their business is not for everyone. The Professional realizes, they really do not want to work with everybody, therefore they need to kind of interview individuals to see they are a good match.

Another way to tell the amateur is by the way they listen and respond to your questions.

If the person is avoiding all your questions and if every response tells about something they have accomplished, pull out the red flag.

See a true Professional does not have to brag about their self every time you ask them a question. They simply answer your question with confidence, or inquire more about what YOU are looking to accomplish. Many amateur network marketers are so busy trying to convince you of all that they have accomplished that they avoid the questions. They also have poor training.

Professional network marketers will answer your questions and make sure you have enough information to make a  “RIGHT NOW” decision, because the professional understands that if you have all the information up front it will avoid problems on the back end.

Finally, look for third party references about the individual with whom you are speaking. Do some research and make sure that they are connected to individuals who can actually help guide you to success.

Make sure there is a team with the individual, and not just the individual working solo.

One thing I have learned from many years in this industry is that it takes a TEAM. I also realized that there is not an “I” in TEAM. As you search for a business to take your family FREEDOM, make sure that you are ignoring the amateurs and attaching yourself to a Professional.
