Step 4:  Successful Time Management Is To Use Time Management Tools

It is not easy to manage time without useful tools to guide you and help you in tracking your activities.

The most common tool that you can use is a calendar and appointment setting software.

This way, all your activities will be recorded, and you can set reminders to accomplish your tasks.

You have a personal digital secretary that will tell you what are the expectations given a specific period.

If you are a bit technical, you can also use a project management software application that can also keep track of milestones or accomplishments and identify the critical path that you need to follow so that your project or activities will not be delayed.

There are other tools that you can use to help you manage your time.

However, you have to remember that the basic things are enough not to complicate matters and make you end up confused.

Instead of spending time to become more productive, learning the advanced software can be a burden and will end up taking more of your time. The purpose of time management can then be defeated.

So make sure you stay on track when it comes to choosing your software.  If it looks like it will become a hassle to set up, simply outsource the task of setting up your software so that you can remain on track toward reaching your goals.

Step 5: Successful Time Management Is That You Must Prioritize Ruthlessly

You have to know what is important and what is urgent as you go through these time management strategies.

A prime example is making sure that you prioritize your income producing activities (IPA). As an internet marketer many get caught up in busy work which simply does not create an income.

Now the activity may set you up to make the process for generating income flow more smoothly, yet it is not an activity that directly effects income.

 

Not all urgent matters need your attention.

Some urgent matters can take much of your time.

You have to discern if something is worth giving your time and if it will increase your productivity and help you achieve something.

You should create a list of all your activities and tasks for the day and set priorities.

Step 6:  Successful Time Management Is To Learn To Delegate and/or Outsource

When it comes to how to manage time effectively one must know how to use resources.

This includes human resources.

If you have these resources at your disposal, then make full use of them by delegating some tasks.

Do not overwhelm yourself with so many activities.

It will only drag and stress you out.

In the end, the quality of your output will suffer.

Learn to create results through people and you will be surprised that you can achieve more.

Also, in areas that you are not excellent in, you will find that other people can produce better results and this can contribute to the overall success of your project or activity.

I always surround myself with people who are amazing at the things I’m horrible at accomplishing.

As you implement each of these steps correctly, you will see successful time management.

Step 1: Successful Time Management is to find out where you’re wasting time.

You can do this by keeping a log of what you do every day and schedule a period to assess how you have spent your time and how much time was used for every activity.

Recording should be done daily on your time management sheet, but the assessment can be done after three days or so.

This way, you can improve in the succeeding days and reduce, if not eliminate activities that just waste your precious time.

You will shock yourself when you see how much time you actually have.

I remember when my mentor and I were talking one time and she was wanting me to add something to my schedule, I remember clearly looking at her and saying, I don’t have time for that”.  She looked right back at me and started going through the 24 hours a day that I have.  See she knew me just that well.. that she knew exactly what I had time for, and what I chose to make time for. By the time she was finished.. I had nothing to say, except.. yes I can do that.  ROFL.

Step 2: Successful Time Management Is To Create Time Management Goals.

If you do not have a goal in anything, then it is pretty clear that you are not going anywhere.

Anything can just lead you anywhere. Time management tips and strategies help you organize the action of your goals.

In order to better manage your time, you have to set your goals.

It starts by setting up your calendar and know what you need to accomplish every day.

This means that before doing anything, when you start your day, you should plan things out and dictate what will happen for the rest of the day.

You can control this and your discipline to follow your commitment will be a great contribution to achieve the goals that you have set.

Step 3: Successful Time Management Is To Implement A Time Management Plan.

A time management plan includes not only setting up your daily calendar.

It also is a plan that specifies the resources that you need to realize the activities that you need to do.

If there are no available resources to accomplish your tasks, you might drag your time and end up accomplishing nothing.

I have done this many times.  See when you begin to work full time in your business, time management is crucial to your success.  See now you don’t have a boss or manager looking over your shoulder every five minutes. It really is up to you to get the work finish.  There are some days when I’m on fire.. accomplishing every task that needs to be completed..

It’s really kind of funny as I’m writing this article, I’ve been in one of those moments when I finish just enough. Maybe you can relate.  You know that moment when you really do not feel like doing what needs to be done.  So you do just enough to get by.  While writing this post I’m becoming motivated.  I look forward to implementing these three steps into my schedule.

Resources are very important to make your plan happen.

Also, you need to list down in detail the distractions that you can encounter as you fulfill your tasks, it is important to identify them and know what are the measures and steps to avoid such distractions.

Some distractions you already know about.. you do not have to wait for them to come up..

Is There An Unauthorized Story Of The Single Moms Club?

Of course there is…

I mean there is always that unauthorized version of something.

As a single mom, I always thought that automatically placed me in the Single Moms Club.

Then Single Moms Club Tyler Perry Trailer came out.. and I realized that I simply did not belong in that particular Single Moms Club.

Why?

Well pretty much in the movie you would figure any single mom should be able to find themselves in at least one of the characters.  Yet I watched and realized that even though a few experiences were similar.. Today, in my life, I really would not fit in.

Mainly because I do not date… at all.

Yep I’m a SINGLE single mom.. and honestly I’m completely cool with it.  I have made a decision to set time aside for God, my kids and my business. Some day I’m sure I’ll get back in the game.. yet I’m not in any kind of rush.

I’m raising two daughters and in this world we live in today.. I simply choose to show them a different way to allowing a Man to be a MAN!! Yet that is another story that I’m sure many will have something to say about! I’ll write it up real soon.. so come back to catch it..

Many tell me, that I’m Single “because”.. and do you realize that none of them ever simply say because “She Choses To Be”.. It amazes me.

Blessed am I.. that I’m surrounded by great friends that understand my truth.. so I don’t have to convince anyone of anything… There are many single parents that actually live a life where the priority is not finding that special one. Considering I’m a lady that’s not my job anyways.. last I checked it is said that “A man that FINDS a wife….” enough of that..smile.

Yet let me just say.. after watching the Single Moms Club, I realized there must be an unauthorized version.  One for those of us that are focused on building an empire while at the same time taking care of our kids.

Notice what I said…

Not build an empire and never see our kids.. NO NO NO…

Build and empire WHILE taking care of our kids.

And that is when that Ah- ha moment came to me..

And the unauthorized story of The Single Moms Club came to be!!

Until 2009 blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject. (source)

I have been asked the question “What is a blog” over and over again.  You know that look that people give you when they are trying to act like they know what you said.. yet it is very obvious they have no idea!

Now I gave you the blog definition that is formal.. or I guess these days people would say PC.. lol..

Yet I’m now going to tell you what is a blog based on my experience.

Now understand I’m typing this so that you can debate what I’m saying. There are several different bloggers out there that will tell you what is a blog in all kinds of different ways.

My answer is based on 7 years of experience and multiple five figures.  So at the end of the day.. take the advice you want. Yet since you are here.. just follow along.

I remember like it was yesterday when I was struggling to make ends meet, mainly because I wasn’t receiving child support..yet that is another story.  I came across a group of successful internet marketers and inquired as to how they had found success.

The truth is I received many vague answers.  No one was really just spilling all the ins and outs for FREE on how they were having success on the internet. So I realized quick that I would have to invest in my education. Which wasn’t all that odd considering I owed $50K in student loans. Education has never been free in my life. I mean it even took time when I was in Elementary, Jr. High School, and High School. I mean I spent 8 hours plus a day there. So education first took time.. then it took time and money, so why would this be any different.

One thing I noticed about every successful internet marketer is that they all had blogs. Yet again none of them really shared exactly how to write a blog that paid bills. So I stayed close and followed the leaders and attempted to duplicate their actions. Notice the word “attempted”. There seemed to be some behind the scene hidden secrets building blog sites that make money.

Yet I didn’t give up.. I kept paying close attention and invested in some amazing training that explained many things to me.  Unlike today where all you have to do is start a Viral Blogging System that will literally allow you to start blogging in 20 minutes.

Yes I failed many times.. and had many set backs.. yet there was no room to give up.. probably the reason why I it remember so well.

It really is up to you which blog definition you decide to believe.  The definition I gave you at the beginning of this post is one that is the dictionary version.  Yet the reality is that when a person ask me, “What is a blog?” All I see is dollar signs, I see dinner for my girls, I see my house and my car.  I see the soccer and cheerleading that my daughters are able to experience.  I see financial freedom.

Why The Search For Single Mom Jobs Is Changing Daily

As we say good bye to 2014 the search for single mom jobs is becoming more and more difficult.

Why? Because there are not as many flexible jobs for single moms out there these days.  See single mom jobs are not your average jobs, as single moms have different kinds of schedules.  Ask me how I know!! lol.

See I actually searched for the best single mom jobs and really came up short.

And stay with me as I tell you why.

How To Determine If You’ve Chosen The Best Single Mom Jobs

I’ve been a single mom for 13 years, going on 14, and honestly I dreaded the J.O.B.  which is why I’m currently a single mom business owner, yet more on that in a second.  I remember having to leave my baby when she was 3 months to go back to a job.  I worked 45-60 hours a week. As I missed what felt like a lifetime with my baby I immediately knew there had to be a way out of this circle of what felt like death to me. The only main issue was that I needed more money, and at the time, did not have a solution to making more money without putting in more time away from my baby.

Maybe you have felt the same way, as you search for single mom jobs you notice that another job will solve the issue of money… maybe!

It’s really all about adding up the numbers. You know that saying that the numbers don’t lie. So let’s run a few numbers.  I’m going to base the numbers on the scenario where a single mom of 2 kids aged 7 and 13 works 40 hours at her first job making $15 per hour.  She then picked up a second job working 20 hours a week making $9 an hour.

Now let’s look at the fact that there are 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  Which gives us a total of 168 hours a week. Now let’s say the mom gets 6 hours of sleep per night.

(Most single moms know that I’m being nice with the 6 hours of sleep a night yet hey let’s just run the numbers.)

So at this point the mom is working for 60 hours a week, and sleeping for 42 hours which brings us to a total of 102 hours gone.  Leaving the single mom with 66 hours left out of the week. How do the single mom jobs look at this point?

Now let’s subtract the amount of time it takes to cook meals and eat with the kids each day. See this is usually the only real family time a single mom gets in some cases with the kids. That’s 14 hours, leaving the single mom with 52 hours.

Stay with me.. I’m showing you how time can really get away from you, especially as a single mom.

Now with 7 and 13 year old children there tend to be extra-curricular activities like soccer, cheerleading, football, basketball, dance, you pick it.. smile. So let’s give those activities about 6 hours a week (3 hours for each child). (I know I’m being kind again..as my 7 year old has 5 hours of soccer a week alone and that is not even including my other child’s stuff, yet this is just an example) Leaving us with 46 hours left in the week.

Now keep in mind we have to include the commute to get to both jobs. I live in Atlanta and the commute is pretty much going to be, at minimum 30 minutes each direction. So that give us 1 hour commute for the first job and 1 hour for the second job, per day. (Let’s say the single mom only works 5 days a week) So that is 10 hours a week, leaving us with 36 hours.

Ok.. with 36 hours left.. some might say that is cool. Yet this is in single mom world.. and as single moms we are responsible for everything.  Things like cleaning the house, washing clothes, shopping for the house, and .. and .. and.. you name it it has to be done! One of the many reasons a work at home jobs is always preferred.

So when do you get to spend time with your kids???

Ok.. what value do you place on spending time with the kids.  I personally would pay $5000 per minute I spend with my daughters. I love them..I love watching them discover the world around them. I love teaching them BETTER ways to communicate and understand their emotions.

Just this past week because I let go of the search for through the single mom jobs I noticed my oldest daughter was obviously overwhelmed between her honors classes in school, Cheerleading and Choir. I could tell, as she started snapping on her little sister first thing in the morning.  Now my opinion on that is if I wake up with a smile on my face with all I have to handle mentally.. then I know a 13 year old without a concern in the world can wake up with some sort of joy.  See I spend lots of time with my daughter so I could tell when she became overwhelmed.

I watched her for about 5 days to see how she would handle it.. and I noticed nothing was changing.. she was talking.. or saying the right things, yet her actions did not line up with her words.  So I pulled her aside on Sunday morning in her room.  We talked about her words and her actions.  I asked her questions, and she was stuck.. not knowing how to answer.  I told her to get out her journal…which had to be dusted off.. smile.   I told her it is time for a brain dump.  Take a moment and relax and write down everything on your mind.  Just get it on paper.  I informed her that the journal entry was between her and God.  I prayed over her and left her to write.  When I went to check on her she was already 3 pages in.

Once she was finished she got to work on the school work that needed to be accomplished. She later told me she felt so clear after the brain dump activity. I felt joy.. as I didn’t learn about that until I was grown with kids.. smiling.

When was the last time you were able to really enjoy watching your kids GROW!

Back to our numbers..

So you have 36 hours left at the end of a week, and you made $780 (before taxes) that week.

Now you tell me does it seem fair?

My response was NO.

See the single mom jobs pretty much will take you away from your kids.  It’s like jumping on a merry-go-round that never stops.

Let’s not even forget to mention that when you get a part time job single moms that you are now exchanging time for money.. so basically that $780 was exchanged for the 60 hours of your life that week that you gave away.

The Solution For Single Mom Jobs That Give Back Time And Money

Look.. I’m first going to give you the solution and then I’m going to tell you the first steps.  It’s really up to you how badly you desire that life where you put time into building something that can explode right before your eyes into a lifestyle where you can have all the time in the world. Plus the vacations you will now be able to afford because you put time into something of your own.  Yet let me tell you what I see to be the best part.. when I’m long gone from this world, I am building something that I can leave to my children and grand babies.

So the solution is start your own business. Single moms are doing it every single day and having success.  Yet understand me there are several that are trying and failing every day as well. Trust me when I tell you this is not about going after a get rich quick scheme.  This is about a get rich quick because you now have an understanding of business.

There are some pretty nice free blogs out there that you can start on, if you are looking to start blogging.  Yet honestly it really depends on the reason why you are blogging in order to determine the best free blogs for you in 2015.  So before I go in to the best free blogs for 2015, let’s talk about WHY you would want to use free blogs. You have a few assignments to accomplish prior to deciding on a blogging platform.

First decide what you are going to blog about.  Free blogs work great if you are blogging about your family, fashion, vacations, self improvement/self hypnosis, health & fitness, language learning, how to travel on a budget, writing style, sports, rescued animals, recipes.

Basically free blogs work great for any topic that you want to talk about.. as long as you do not plan on making money from your blog.

Yes.. Now with that being said.. I started on free blogs.. funny thing is The On-Line Marketing Angel started on Blogger.. yep..sure did.. and I believe Blogger is the one of the best free blogging sites for 2015. Why do I believe this fact you might ask… well.. like I said I started there, and that blog is still ranking at the #1 spot for the keyword ‘The Online Marketing Angel”.  And if you plan on blogging so that other people can see your stuff.. well it pretty much makes sense to have it on the first page of Google, wouldn’t you agree.

Wix features hundreds of unique and very professional-looking  templates that can easily be customized to keep your blog unique and different from everyone else’s. It’s a pretty cool platform to start on to get your brand out there with class.  Plus if you desire to create an income from your own products, and want to really have a beautiful brand on the internet I highly recommend Wix.  Just keep in mind, it is only a free blogging site up to a point.

 

Tumblr.com

I enjoy Tumblr and actually post lots on my Tumblr site. Tumblr is easily the best of the 10 platforms when it comes to visuals. Images, videos, music. It’s really easy to post and display it on your profile. Tumblr comes with many neat ways to share your content.  I really enjoy Tumblr because it’s fun.. and let’s not forget that people can reblog your content as well.. allowing for your content to go viral so that you can generate more followers. Tumblr is one of the totally free blog sites.

Weebly.com

Weebly has several different themes to get you off to a very modern and personal feel.  Just like Wix, it’s only free up to a point on this platform as well. Remember I told you if you want to build an e-commerce site, or a site that makes money, you will eventually have to pull out the credit card. Weebly has an iPhone app for posting on the go which is awesome.  Plus it connects to your social media platforms with ease.  Weebly is made for the individual that knows nothing about setting up a site and definitely deserves a spot in the top 5.

WordPress.com

WordPress, in my world, is the best free site out there.  Why? Well all of my personally hosted sites, except for my Authority Site, are wordpress blogs.  So if you are really looking to eventually expand your business and explode on the internet  then WordPress is the best place to start.  There is an iPad app for on the go posting, as well as many plug ins that allow you to really build out your site.  The themes for wordpress are endless and powerful.

Blog Sites That Make Money Are Everywhere

There are many blog sites that make money.

Yet that is based on the fact that there are so many blogs out there.

The reality is that only about 14% of blogs create an income.. now 14% of  millions is a lot!

Notice that the average annual earnings from blogging is $24,086.  Now let’s not trip.. that is more then MANY bring home annually.  Yet was not quite what I was going for when I started this journey of figuring out how to create a blog to make money.

Yet it’s almost like the best kept secret as to how to make money blogging.

Back in the day when blogs first started popping up on the scene.. they were incredibly technical.. Those that could figure it out started an entirely new way of communicating to the market place.

I’ll never forget when I first started blogging..

My first blog site was Blogger which is owned by Google.. this blog is still ranking on the first page of Google under “The OnLine Marketing Angel“.

It even looks kind of … hmmmm..  how can I put this.. “Old School”.. lol.

See back in 2008 I had to learn all kinds of things.. yet one thing really sticks out to me.  As blogger was pretty much the best way to start back then.  It is a free blogging site, which at the time exactly what I needed to start. I would wake up every day excited about what I was going to learn and implement into my blog.  I remained excited until the day I decided to add a little code to my site.  I simply wanted to place an image that one could click and it would take them to another place on the internet.

My first stop was YouTube. Searching for this technique of making a clickable link.  Now today you would probably laugh at me.. as things aren’t nearly as complicated..

It amazes me when some one joins my blog sites and pay’s $7 for the risk free trial to discover how to not only make money blogging yet gets a blog with it, comes to me and complains because they actually have to do something.  I mean I had to do more then get ready to blog, blog sites and go.. NO NO NO.. I had to set that baby up.. I had to feed that baby..  I had to scream and yell and freak out about once every other day..

Back to when I knew decided to adventure outside of my box.  I watched about 6 different videos, and believed that I knew enough to get it done. I went back to my blogger site and started to implement.. and then all of a sudden I clicked something and all my images from my site were gone!  YES GONE!! I can’t tell you what I did, I didn’t know what happened.. All I knew is I must have messed up along the way.

I would love to sit here and tell you I stayed calm and attacked the issue and solved it immediately. Yet that would be a lie!! smile.

I screamed, cried a little, told my daughter to stay out of the office and I stayed up that night until 5am and FIXED IT!! That’s right.. I didn’t give up.. I fixed it.. and with all that time I had put into my blog I still was unable to make money..

Why The Blog Sites You Choose Effect Your Income

I learned really quick that I deserve to own my land on the internet.

I realized that if I was going to put in this kind of time.. Then I should spend that time positioning myself to make money.

So it was at that moment that I invested in my personal blog website on the World Wide Web! My first piece of land is still occupied by me today.. www.ShalondaGordon.net .

It looks way different today then it did back then.. This header below was my first real investment into my brand.

Now understand even with this site.. I still had to build up lots of authority in order to rank organically (FREE) in the search engines.  And Now I have to get real with you.. as even though I’ve made over $50K in the last 2 years blogging.. I’ve been blogging for 6 years, so you do the math.  So let me just tell you this..and you can take it or leave it.

If you are not willing to accept responsibility for your consistency in blogging.. then the blog sites you choose will not matter.. as if you are not going to blog consistently you might as well forget it.

Yet there is some sunshine to this.. no one said YOU had to do the blogging, you can totally outsource that.. just make sure you make a blog and place it on your blog sites consistently.

The blog sites you choose MATTER.. they matter big.. As the more authority you can gain from a powerful site the better off you will find yourself.  And the faster you will reach an income level.  Yet there is more to it then just the blog sites.  It also depends on the products you are bringing to the market place as well as the proposed funnel you bring a prospect through once they take action on your blog.

The main reason most do not succeed in blogging is because they thing it’s all about blogging, people love what I say.. and they just throw money at me.. Ummmmm NO.. that’s not how this works.

I love this time of the year.. The weather starts to get crisp which signifies that it’s time to get ready to start spending some money.

If your life is anything like mines..  with 2 girls.. well quite a bit of money.

The Shiloh Generals Vs. South Gwinnett Comets… WOW

Shiloh High School 9th Grade Football Team Played…

It was a cool evening around 64 degrees in Snellville, GA as me and my daughters headed out to watch Mark Robinson Jr., #29 play in what could be the last game of the season. We had planned to attend a game all season long.. yet life took over. From Chorus concerts to homework, to simply just not being able to get out on a Thursday night.  Yet tonight, missing the game was simply not an option.

We arrived late.. with only 4 minutes left in the second quarter.  The score was 0 to 0.  See the week before Shiloh whipped up on their opponents, the South Gwinnett Comets a TRUE rivalry it’s said. And they started the playoff season playing them all over again.

Shiloh Generals Refused To Give An Inch…

Once they hit half time the score was still 0-0.  The Shiloh Generals were holding their ground.. so everyone went into their locker rooms for Half Time, as we enjoyed the Cheerleaders.

I was a Cheerleader in High School as a Freshman and a Sophomore.. and let me just say.. nothing has changed.. except one vital thing.. I know a WHOLE LOT MORE!! LOL

They even shouted a cheer that we said back when  I was cheer!

One we are the Generals, Two a little bit louder, Three I still can’t hear you MORE MORE MORE MORE ONE!!!!

Had me sitting there reminiscing of the good ole days.. when there was not a worry in the world.. All I had to do was get great grades, keep up with the practicing my toe touches and smile my way through every chick that wanted my place of popularity.. Talk about having it good. Yet the main part that was the best was not having a worry in the world… lol…

The energy in the stadium was up beat.. yet then it happened.. That moment when you wonder if maybe you should have attended a different game.. as you want to see a VICTORY!

Shiloh Generals Throw An Interception And The Dominoes Started To Fall…

I tell you it got messy.  I mean all of a sudden I’m wondering where’s the Shiloh Book.. you know the Playbook! Anyone that knows me.. knows I’m serious about that playbook. The scene was like something out of a Friday Night Lights type of movie. Young minds that don’t really understand the meaning of loss.. or giving up.  Haven’t had too many thing happen yet that require that kind of experience to knock them down yet.  It’s that moment when the sun set and the temp drops.  Thank God I knew how to come prepared so we had a blanket of course..

Every starts to go in slow motion as the refs start to lose their minds.. it honestly appeared like South Gwinnet had made a few deposits into their bank accounts prior to the game.. Now I’m not saying South Gwinnett wasn’t ready.. I’m just saying the refs were trippin.

I look at Mark’s mom and I said, “South Gwinnet watched some tape this week.. and had to run after that loss last week”

It showed.. as they scored and then went for the two point conversion.. which you know takes heart.. it’s almost like a smack in the face.. especially since they GOT IT!!

Then they scored again..

I was getting kind of frustrated with the Shiloh Generals coach as he seemed to not understand the meaning of “Substitute”.  I mean it seemed like the only way player got out was to play hurt.. as everyone who was down.. walked off the field just fine.. smile.

The boys were tired.. and the bench was full of refreshed ready to play Generals.. Now on the other side of the field the Comet’s coach was trading out players every other play.. keeping the team fresh and alert.. ready to go.  Yes.. it matters.. and the score showed it!

I can’t even tell you the score.. at the end.. I was stuck.. all I could see across the Shiloh Generals field was this sign.  It brought everything home.  Regardless of rather it’s a victory or a defeat we must…

So The Shiloh Generals 9th grade football team lost their playoff game and so the season is over for them.. yet regardless they are victorious.  See I know from Mark that he busted his butt to make that team and worked hard at every practice.  Next year is nothing but opportunity! When he will have another moment to enjoy those moments when all you have is time and inches between you and Victory!

Now what does Shiloh have to do with YOU? 

How many times have you lost? How did you respond? You do realize that every loss leads you closer to a victory.  Especially when you can understand that there is nothing but time and inches between you and success.. NOT yards, NOT miles… just inches.

Never give up.. WIN THE DAY!!

That is what my squad does everyday.. WE WIN THE DAY!! A victory for me might look like a failure to you.. and I really don’t care. And that is the approach you should have in life as well.. Every time you decide you are not going to just TRY.. you are going to be the Victor that you were created deep down to become.

Well.. it was a great game.. I waited all day to write this post.. as I knew the energy at a 9th grade High School Game would motivate me beyond words!
